Our community is full of people who want to help animals in need. We work to help connect the loving people with the companion animals who need them.

The Somerset Pulaski County Humane Society does not house the animals we rescue in a shelter facility.  Instead, we rely on families to foster our animals. We provide all food, health care, and toys needed for each foster animal.  You provide love, patience, and safety.
We are in desperate need of more foster homes. The more foster homes we have the more animals we can save.
Fostering can be the most rewarding and fulfilling thing a true animal lover will ever do.  The reward is reciprocal   for our canine and feline guests!

Fostering is not always an easy job.  It can be challenging and exhausting. It can also be painful to say goodbye to a foster pet when he or she is ready for adoption. However; keep in mind; ultimately you can reassure yourself by knowing that the animal is going to a good home, and that you were an integral part of making that happen.

Essentially, you saved an animal's life!

By offering your time, love, and attention, you prepare your foster dog,  puppy, cat, or kitten for adoption into a permanent, loving home! To  fill out a Foster Application now, click  the button below!

WE NEED YOU!

Everybody knows how to do something, and the Humane Society needs help with all kinds of things.  Often times, we hear "I'd like to help, but I can't foster...".  Well, there's a whole lot more to animal rescue than fostering!

We are a non-profit BUSINESS, and need all the skills and talents that any business needs.  Perhaps you are an amazing photo editor, or have fantastic customer skills, or maybe you know a bit about computers and would be willing to do data entry, or have experience serving food, erecting a tent, or know a bit about marketing or maybe have the compassion and patience to help in our S'neuter Shop, or are a good story writer or, maybe you'd like to help transport animals to other rescues,  maybe help clean the building or organize pet food in our store room, or, ... well, the possibilities are endless!

We welcome, and desperately need new volunteers!

There are a myriad of programs and need human hands on help with many of them. For an application and  waiver; see the links below OR email marnold255pchs@aol.com,  to request them and learn more.

Adopting a pet comes with numerous advantages including:

  • You’re saving a life. Millions of healthy, adoptable pets are  euthanized every year simply for a lack of a home. When you adopt your pet from a shelter or rescue group, you are giving a deserving pet a  loving home.
  • Many adoptable pets are already trained.
  • When you adopt an older pet,

  • Many adoptable pets are already trained.
  • When you adopt an older pet, you will often get a sense of their  personality and temperament. You also already know their full grown size!
  • An adoption fee can save you money! Our adoption fee includes vaccinations, spay/neutering, microchips, and any other veterinary costs that were required to make sure each of our adoptable pets are as healthy as they can be to prepare the pet for a new home.  Plus, if there are any known on-going medical issues, we will be completely transparent and will let you know what they are and all costs.

You can bring them to us ANYTIME.  We have a bin in front of the gate that you can put them in, or if the bin is full, just pitch them over the fence.  We will get them!

Or, if you have a big bunch (like more than 5 big black trash bags) we'll even come pick them up!  Click the green button below for more information.
